Arbor Day

Last week I planted my 10 baby Abror Day trees in this ugly bed that may protect them from the herbivores. I sifted the soil through 1/2-inch hardware cloth and mulched with leaves and sticks that I raked off the trails in the woods.

The trees are not all native to this area, but I planted them anyway. There are 2 each of:

1.Malus sargentii- Sargent's apple- Japan
2.Cercis canadensis- Eastern Redbud- Eastern North America
3.Crataegus phaenopyrum- Washington Hawthorn- Lower Midwest to Southeast U.S.
4.Cornus florida- Flowering Dogwood- Eastern North America
5.Koelreuteria paniculata- Goldenraintree- Eastern Asia
